I’m going to do a 30 day book challenge that I found floating around on the internet. Today is day one, where I talk about my favourite book. (Leave me a comment if you want to do this challenge & I will send you all the days!)
I actually did a guest post about my favourite book at The Book, so I’ll pick another favourite for this post. I have an ever rotating list of ‘favourites’. Sometimes I will decide upon one novel, for example Cloud Atlas, which will reign supreme until something pops up in my brain saying ‘well what about this other book?’ and I have to start all over again.
My Favourite Book: The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Sparsely written, beautiful and moving. The Road is a book of few words, and so there are few words that I can use to describe it. It will probably make you cry. If you’re anything like me, then after reading it you will sit alone for a few minutes staring at the wall, and then proceed to ring everyone you love and tell them you love them and ask them if it was all going to be okay. Is this making you want to read it? No? I guessed not. But you should. As utterly heartbreaking as it was, I don’t regret reading it for a second, and will recommend it to anyone.
